MicroNet Tmr®

The MicroNet TMR® is a control platform from Woodward.

Product description and features

The MicroNet TMR® uses a robust rack-mounted chassis with hot-swappable I/O modules. It features a triple modular architecture to achieve 99.999% availability. This redundant system is composed of three isolated core sections (A, B, C) housed in the platform’s compact chassis. Each core section has its own CPU, CPU power supply, and up to four I/O modules. These I/O modules can be used for simplex I/O, redundant I/O, or a combination of redundancy. I/O expandability is provided by an additional system chassis or external I/O.

The high-density modules and integrated application program of this platform provide a first-out indication for event monitoring systems, reducing troubleshooting time. These purpose-built modules timestamp discrete events within 1 millisecond and analog events within 5 milliseconds. The MicroNet TMR uses two power supplies, each powered from a separate source. Each power supply contains three independent power converters, one for each CPU and I/O section. This triplicated power architecture provides maximum protection against single or multi-point hardware failures.

The dedicated TMR discrete I/O modules are designed for use in critical discrete circuits. This module accepts discrete inputs and distributes them to each of the core sections, as well as output relay-based contacts to drive discrete application logic. The module’s specialized TMR outputs use a six-relay configuration and built-in latent fault detection logic, allowing for the failure of one or, in some cases, two relays without affecting output integrity. This type of architecture enables routine relay testing and online repair without compromising output or system integrity.

Designed as a turbine control system, the MicroNet TMR controller’s servo modules are engineered to interface with turbine valve integration using single or dual redundant coils and AC or DC feedback position sensors. The MicroNet TMR can accommodate any combination of Woodward’s standard MicroNet I/O modules to offer maximum application flexibility.
