UG8D Regulator Standard Exchange
At Normandy Control Group, we’re committed to keeping marine propulsion systems running smoothly. We recently carried out a standard Woodward UG8D governor exchange on a Wärtsilä 6R22/26 propulsion engine. This intervention is testimony to our expertise and our ability to offer fast, efficient solutions.
What is a standard exchange?
A standard exchange consists of replacing a faulty part with an identical one, whether reconditioned or new. This method makes it possible to restore a system’s performance without having to wait for the equipment to be completely repaired. In the case of our recent project, the old controller had reached its limit of operating hours, and replacement was imperative to maintain system reliability.

Intervention details
To ensure a smooth transition, a replacement model of the Woodward UG8D was installed on the engine. This not only reduced downtime, but also ensured continuity of operations.
Following installation of the new controller, dockside tests were carried out to validate the system parameters. These tests are crucial to ensure that everything works optimally and that the motor’s performance meets the required standards.
