Standard exchange of a Woodward UG25+ regulator: a fast, efficient solution
When a speed governor breaks down, the downtime can have a direct impact on equipment availability. That’s why standard exchange is an effective solution for rapid return to service.
Troubleshooting and fault identification
A Woodward UG25+ controller was taken to the workshop after showing several anomalies:
- No warning lights on front panel,
- Impossible to regulate engine speed,
- No connection possible with the computer.
Given these symptoms, an initial analysis was carried out to identify the source of the problem.
A failure of the front panel was quickly suspected, as it plays a key role in the controller’s interface and communication.
To confirm this diagnosis, in-depth tests were carried out.
These revealed a critical malfunction on the board, preventing any attempt at recovery or configuration transfer.

Setting up standard exchange
Faced with this situation, the best solution was to opt for a standard exchange. This approach enables the faulty controller to be quickly replaced by a working model, thus avoiding prolonged equipment downtime. By limiting operational interruptions, this solution ensures a rapid and efficient return to service, essential for maintaining continuity of operations.
Before installing the new controller, a thorough check was carried out on the components of the old equipment. Some internal components, still in good working order, could be recovered and reinstalled on the new unit to ensure perfect compatibility and preserve initial settings. This step is essential to ensure that the new controller integrates perfectly with the existing system.
Once the controller was in position and correctly reconnected, the next step was to recover and apply the original configuration to the equipment concerned. This operation, carried out with precision, ensured a smooth transition and avoided any need for complex post-installation adjustments. Tests were then carried out to ensure that the controller functioned correctly in its operating environment, thus confirming an optimal and safe return to service.

Result: optimal restart
Thanks to this intervention, the controller was successfully put back into service. After thorough testing, the system was gradually ramped up, validating its correct operation and guaranteeing continuity of operation.
