UG25 Plus Governor

The Woodward UG25+ governor is a microprocessor-controlled, mechano-hydraulic amplified governor designed for controlling diesel, gas, dual-fuel engines, and steam turbines.

Product description and features

The UG-25+ offers speed control with selectable setpoints, dynamics, fuel limits, and startup behavior via software. A PC is required for configuration and data download. The front panel and external speed settings simplify synchronization and load sharing for generator applications. A 4-20 mA speed adjustment is available for variable speed applications. Adjustable droop allows load balancing between parallel machines, and a manual load limiter is provided.
The UG-25+ operates at 1034 kPa (150 psi) using an internal oil pump driven by the regulator’s drive shaft, maintaining pressure through a safety valve system with discharge to an internal oil reservoir.

The enhanced control capabilities, such as the startup and boost fuel-limiting features, are integral to the UG-25+ regulator. Additional fuel transient limiting (ramp rate) improves engine load acceptance and significantly reduces transient emissions.

Control Functions:

– State-of-the-art speed detection and control algorithms
– Enhanced PID dynamics
– Configurable speed settings and adjustment rates
– Multiple fuel-limiting algorithms (ramp rate, boost pressure, and startup fuel limits)
– Comprehensive diagnostics for easy troubleshooting

Woodward Modernization

The UG-25+ replaces the UG-8 and 3161 regulators, combining all the benefits of a traditional mechanical regulator with the most modern control algorithms for optimal engine performance.
