505CC-2

The 505CC-2 digital controller is designed to control compressors, steam turbines, or steam turbine-driven compressor trains. The 505CC-2 algorithms are intended for application on single-valve or single-extraction steam turbines, as well as single or dual-loop compressor trains. The configurability of this controller allows it to manage motor-driven or turbine-driven compressors.

Product description and features

The 505CC-2 control hardware consists of a robust platform designed for control room or skid-mounted locations. All CPU and I/O modules are housed in a compact wall-mounted hardware unit, minimizing space and wiring needs.

OEM-approved compressor and turbine algorithms are used within this controller to ensure optimal system performance and protection. The qualified anti-surge compressor algorithm compensates for changing gas/process conditions, ensuring proper operating point calculations and protection limits.

A user-friendly configuration and commissioning software (CCT) allows users to configure, service, and operate the controller. This CCT program comes with each controller on a CD, which can be installed on a site computer connected to the 505CC-2. Optionally, a 15″ (381 mm) touchscreen Human Machine Interface (HMI) is available, which can also serve as an engineering workstation and/or operator control panel. This Ethernet-based HMI uses graphical displays to show the entire turbine compressor island and includes performance data logging to give users a comprehensive view of the system.

In addition to HMI/CCT Ethernet communications, two Modbus®* serial interfaces are included for remote connection to a DCS or other smart systems.

Key benefits include:

– Fewer plant controllers are required because the turbine and compressor controllers are integrated into one product.
– Users can standardize on a single controller across their plant(s), as the product’s configurability allows it to be applied to steam turbines, motor-driven compressors, and steam turbine-driven compressors.
– Easy to use and field-configurable. The platform enables on-site personnel to safely modify and operate the unit with ease.
– Field-proven product with numerous users, significantly increasing product reliability.
– Compliant with API-612 standards for oil, chemical, and gas processing plants.
